Home office cheering section

Your family's support can be invaluable to your success.

Your family's support can be invaluable to your success.

If you worked in a corporate office before opening your home office, you probably spent more time away from home than at home. When you start working from home, it’s crucial for your family to support your efforts.

Instead of pushing your family away, think of ways to include them in your business by discussing problems with them, asking their opinion, or more importantly sharing your success with them. Otherwise, if your family members feel left out of your business, they’ll start to resent your work and any time you spend in your home office.

Your family doesn’t have to be involved to the point of making phone calls for you or taking messages. Instead ask if they’ll agree to be a sounding board or a means for developing new ideas. Someone not so closely tied to your business or industry may provide you with ideas that had never occurred to you.
